APOSTASY Parts Ways With Bassist, Announces Replacement

April 22, 2008

Vocalist Fredric Edin of the Swedish black metal act APOSTASY has posted the following message on the band's MySpace page:

"Johan [Edlund], our previous bass man, has left us it is sad but it was his decision. He had so much to do with his work and moving to another city so it was the right thing to do for him. But we have already found and added a new member to the APOSTASY clan... Patrik Wall! A really great guy who loves this kind of music and is dedicated to the merrow for this so I hope you will embrace him live just as much as you liked Johan.

"We have been really busy lately with writing material for the third album. It is going well and we have like 75% of the songs ready so everything is working out fine, and we are gonna push out some new hooks to labels now when we have left Black Mark so hopefully we will land a great new deal soon."

APOSTASY last year posted two new songs on its MySpace page. Check out demo versions of the tracks "The Parasite Swarm" and "Gods Assassin" at this location.

The band previously commented: "[The new songs] are a lot more aggressive and heavier than anything we have evere done. We have added some new elements in our music and it turned out really fucking great. We are also looking for a new label to work with. We have left Black Mark Records permanent now and [are] negotiating with some major labels."

APOSTASY made national headlines in Sweden in 2006 when the group's guitarist Henrik Johansson was stabbed to death by his girlfriend. At 3:55 a.m. on March 9, 2006, the 19-year-old girlfriend dialed 112 (the Swedish equivalent of 911 in the U.S. or 999 in the U.K.) and said that her boyfriend was lying bleeding on the floor in the couple's apartment in Kramfors, Sweden. When the paramedics and police arrived, Henrik Johansson was already dead.
